ISTD Modern & Tap Exams – Focus, Confidence and Achievement
On 10th May, our Bronze & Gold Jazz, Grade 6 Modern, Grade 1 Tap and Grade 1 Modern students took part in their Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) examinations, completing their assessments through the in-studio video exam format.
These exams marked an important milestone for our dancers, reflecting months of consistent training, dedication and attention to detail across both modern and tap disciplines.
Focus and Preparation in Action
Across all levels, students approached their exams with real focus and commitment. From younger Grade 1 dancers through to more advanced students, there was a clear sense of preparation and readiness as they worked through their syllabi.
We were incredibly proud to see their confidence grow throughout the session, with many students excelling in their performance and demonstrating both technical understanding and performance quality.
A huge part of this success was the excellent preparation provided by teacher Bobbi, whose structured and supportive approach ensured students felt confident, secure and well-prepared heading into their exams.
A Supportive In-Studio Experience
The in-studio video format provided a familiar and supportive environment, allowing students to perform at their best within the space they know well. This helped create a calm and focused atmosphere, enabling dancers to concentrate fully on their work.
Teachers were able to guide and support students throughout the process, ensuring they felt ready and able to perform to the best of their ability.
Celebrating Achievement
Following the exams, there was a real sense of pride and accomplishment. Students had the opportunity to take photos and mark the occasion together, celebrating the effort and dedication that had gone into their preparation.
These moments are a reminder of how much progress takes place over time, not just in technical ability, but in confidence, resilience and performance quality.
We are extremely proud of all our ISTD Modern and Tap students who took part, and of the commitment they continue to show in their training each week.
