Elevate Series Workshop – Flexibility & Conditioning with Lynsey Jamieson

On Friday 29th May, our senior students from Grade 3 upwards took part in our latest Elevate Series workshop, welcoming Lynsey Jamieson, one of the coaches at Alloa Gymnastics, to lead a specialist session focused on flexibility and conditioning.

As part of our ongoing Elevate Series programme, this workshop continued our commitment to supporting the physical wellbeing, strength and safe development of our dancers.

Strength, Control and Safe Progression

The session combined both flexibility and conditioning work, giving students the opportunity to explore how strength and control directly support safe and effective flexibility training.

Lynsey introduced a range of exercises designed to challenge the dancers in a positive and structured way, including a particularly demanding core-based sequence that required real focus, control and body awareness.

Rather than focusing on flexibility in isolation, the workshop highlighted the importance of balancing strength and mobility, an essential principle in healthy dance training and injury prevention.

Challenging, But Positive

For many students, the session was physically demanding, but also highly engaging and enjoyable. The atmosphere remained consistently positive, with dancers encouraged to work within their own ability while being safely guided towards improvement.

This approach is a key part of our Elevate Series philosophy: pushing students appropriately, while ensuring they understand how to train their bodies safely and sustainably.

Building Strong, Informed Dancers

Workshops like this play an important role in helping students develop not only their physical capability, but also their understanding of how their bodies work in relation to dance technique.

We are incredibly grateful to Lynsey for sharing her expertise and for delivering such a focused and supportive session for our students.
