Small Steps Create Big Shifts

Recently, I had the opportunity to spend two dedicated days working with Karen Somerville Consulting through the Business Gateway Expert Help programme.

The support was fully funded through Business Gateway, and I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to step away from the day-to-day running of classes to focus on the bigger picture.

Growth, Leadership and Financial Strategy

The sessions centred around growth, leadership and financial strategy - taking an honest look at where Alloa Ballet Company is now, what is working well, and where refinement or strengthening is needed. As a small business owner, it can be difficult to carve out protected time for this kind of strategic thinking, yet it is essential for sustainable growth.

Those two days were both challenging and energising. They encouraged me to reflect on long-term vision, leadership development and ensuring that the business structure supports the quality and care we deliver in the studio every day.

Protecting What Makes ABC Special

Importantly, the process reaffirmed something that has always been at the heart of ABC - our family-centred ethos. As we continue to grow and evolve, maintaining that sense of community, connection and personal attention will remain a core part of who we are.

Looking to the Future

I am extremely thankful to Business Gateway for investing in small businesses in this way, and to Karen for her expertise, clarity and guidance.

Taking time to pause, reflect and plan is ultimately an investment in our students and families. The future of ABC feels focused, intentional and full of possibility.
