Alloa Ballet Company & Stirling Academy of Dance staff are trained to deliver professional and expert dance education to students of all ages and abilities. We are proud that many of our staff are former ABC or SAD students.
We encourage our Senior students to assist with Junior classes and also offer work experience placements to students from local schools.

Heather Shrimpton RAD RTS, AISTD, FDI
Heather trained with Basingstoke Academy of Dance before moving up to Stirling to study at Stirling University, where she gained a BSc (hons) in biology. During her time at university, she continued her dance training at the Scottish Academy of Dance, gaining her teaching qualification with the Royal Academy of Dance and Associate with the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance.

Throughout a varied career, Heather was the Special Needs Dance Co-ordinator and then Dance Artist for Clackmannanshire Council, sourcing funding, teaching within local schools, organising workshops with Dance UK and lecturing at national dance conferences. She is currently a primary teacher in a local school.

She successfully passed her motorbike training, and enjoys riding out on her motorbike. However she won’t be turning up to class on it – there is not enough room for the stereo, syllabus, registers, scarves, shoes . . . . . . .Heather also has her day skipper certificate and the Yachtmaster Theory which enables her to enjoy her passion of sailing . 

Heather has choreographed and directed numerous children’s musical theatre and amateur operatic societies. She currently is involved with Stirling Gang Show.

Meara O’Donnell-Webb  MEd, BA(Hons) , ISTD DDE

Meara started dancing at the age of two continuing throughout her childhood learning all styles of dance. She was lucky enough to be one of the first groups to sit the SQA Higher Dance exam, which developed her love of contemporary dance and choreography.

Meara went to on to train in England, gaining a BA(Hons) Dance, Performance and Teaching degree. Whilst studying she worked as a dance apprentice for Preston Youth Dance Company and as a Dance Assistant for Ludus Dance.

Her first graduate job was as Dance Support Artist for SykeDance/Aros. Here she developed the dance programme on Skye. She then took on the Development and Project Manager role, running dance classes, delivering Nat 5 dance, running SkyeDance Youth Company and fundraising to build a bespoke dance studio.

In 2017 Meara was shortlisted for ‘Most Inspirational Community Dance Practitioner at the OneDance UK teaching awards. On her return to the mainland, Meara worked for the macRobert Arts Centre delivering their ‘New Creative Voices’ project and leading their Youth Dance Company.

Currently Meara is working as a freelance dance artist and as Dance Support Artist delivering on Scottish Ballet and Dance Base’s Dance for Parkinson’s classes. We are delighted to have Meara teaching modern and tap at Alloa Ballet Company.

Heather McKendry

Miss Heather started dancing at the age of two and loved every class through her childhood and teenage years. She then went on to study full time for a two year professional dance course at Ecosse Performers College in Lossiemouth. After gaining a HNC, she continued her studies at Dance For All at the Theatre School in Edinburgh. It was here she gained ISTD teaching qualifications and a HND in dance.

Miss Heather teaches dance full time across Edinburgh and the Lothians, runs her own dance school and fits in coaching exercise classes to adults. She loves teaching and making all of her classes fun whilst passing on her passion for dance. Miss Heather tries to develop an awareness of musicality, rhythm, creativity and self-esteem. She is very excited to meet everyone at Alloa Ballet Company.

Chelsie Mae Goor

Chelsie Goor danced with Alloa Ballet Company for over 18 years and then left to continue training at Dance For All in Edinburgh. She spent three years training in Professional Stage Dance and graduated last year in June! Chelsie has done many different styles of dance including: ballet, jazz, modern, tap, flamenco, singing and musical theatre, commercial, contemporary and many more! She completed my DDI Modern and has sat her practical exam in DDE. Chelsie teaches our commercial class on a Friday night.



Elisha Black

Elisha has been dancing for 17 years.  She trained with Alloa Ballet Company, Stirling Academy of Dance for 13 years where she studied a range of dance styles such as ballet, tap, jazz and modern.  Elisha found her love for performing as she starred in many performances such as Cinderella, The Wizard of Oz, Snow White and the not so little Dwarfs and many more.  She completed many exams while at the company.  Elisha found her love for teaching while at the school and it thrilled to be back and now teaching at Alloa Ballet Company and Stirling Academy of Dance. Elisha is currently teaching the adult tap classes.



Julia Stewart

Having danced with ABC since the age of three, Julia’s love for dance has grown massively and she now loves sharing her passion when teaching. She is currently studying a BSc in Sport and Fitness and hopes to go into the field of P.E Teaching / Sports Therapy. Her favourite styles of dance are ballet and contemporary but she does love to get the tap shoes back out. Julia also coaches gymnastics and is hoping to become qualified in Acrobatic Dance within the next year. Julia is our adult ballet tutor and occasionally coaches the ballet students.



Class Helpers

We are extremely lucky to involve some of our older students in assisting our younger classes. This is fantastic experience for our students, allowing them to develop their own leadership skills within a supportive environment. It is also fabulous to watch the bonds that develop between the younger students and their class helpers that last way beyond the class.
