Faculty

Alloa Ballet Company & Stirling Academy of Dance staff are trained to deliver professional and expert dance education to students of all ages and abilities. We are proud that our staff are former ABC or SAD students.
We encourage our Senior students to assist with Junior classes and also offer work experience placements to students from local schools.

Heather Shrimpton RAD RTS, AISTD, FDI
Heather trained with Basingstoke Academy of Dance before moving up to Stirling to study at Stirling University, where she gained a BSc (hons) in biology. During her time at university, she continued her dance training at the Scottish Academy of Dance, gaining her teaching qualification with the Royal Academy of Dance and Associate with the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance.

Throughout a varied career, Heather was the Special Needs Dance Co-ordinator and then Dance Artist for Clackmannanshire Council, sourcing funding, teaching within local schools, organising workshops with Dance UK and lecturing at national dance conferences. She is currently a primary teacher in a local school.

She has just successfully passed her motorbike training, and is now on the lookout for a bigger motorbike . However she won’t be turning up to class on it – there is not enough room for the stereo, syllabus, registers, scarves, shoes . . . . . . .

Heather has choreographed and directed numerous children’s musical theatre and amateur operatic societies. She currently is involved with Stirling Gang Show.

Jennifer Ward
It is great to welcome back Jennifer, a former student of Stirling Academy of Dance. She went on to train for 2 years at Dance For all, Edinburgh. Studies included Ballet, Tap, Modern theatre, Jazz, Contemporary, National, Spanish, singing, Indian and African Dance. She is currently working through her FDI and CDE in Modern Theatre, Tap, Ballet and National.

Jenna Graham
Jenna has now moved on to her primary teacher training at Jordanhill. Her teaching and developing skills dealing with the students will hopefully assist her in her teacher training. Jenna will occasionally return to teach for us and continues to take classes to develop her own ability and technique.

Gemma Bannerman
Currently in her final year at Alloa Academy. Gemma has been dancing with Alloa Ballet Company since the age of 5. Gemma assists with the Stirling Academy of Dance Saturday classes whilst continuing to develop her own technique in the vocational ballet and modern classes.
I now also help out in classes with younger children. I always look forward to this as not only do I get to mix with the younger half of the company, but I get to observe how different children learn and just generally have fun spending time with other children who enjoy dance as much as I do.

Alex Kirby
I have been dancing since the age of two and have loved it ever since. I have been with Heather since I was six years old and have found multiple opportunities to develop not only my technique but also my enthusiasm for dance. Performing has always been a real interest of mine and I feel so privileged to be able to encourage young children to experience in an activity I have such eagerness for.

Karen Gullen
Karen is a welcome addition to the Thursday & Saturday Alloa Ballet Company classes. She has been dancing with Alloa Ballet Company since the tender age of 2 ½ !

Jennifer McPherson
Jennifer is a welcome addition to the Thursday Alloa Ballet Company classes.
